Lorem Ipsum traces its origins to 45 BC and the Roman philosopher Cicero's work de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum (The Extremes of Good and Evil). Sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 contain the original Latin passages. In the 1960s, Letraset — the company that made rub-on transfer sheets for graphic designers — scrambled these passages and printed them on their product sheets as placeholder text.
